Easy Guide to StitchFiddle - The Crafty Co

Easy guide to Stitch Fiddle where you can create charts from pictures

How wonderful is it to snuggle under a blanket that is a picture of your favourite pet or a flower that you snapped in warmer days. We have so much technology at our fingertips, that we are able to create these treasured heirlooms at the click of a mouse. There are lots of different sites that allow you to design your projects, but the downside with them, is that they are professionals in their field, and think that we too are able to navigate tricky programs, and that we know exactly what we should be doing.

It really is very daunting to the computer novice, that may be a whizz with their hook, but is overwhelmed when faced with lots of squares, colours and boxes that gets them in a very different whizz, leaving them in a cold sweat at the thought of diving into the unknown.

As I mentioned, there are a few sites that allow you create charts, but I'm going to give you a quick guide to my absolute favourite, Stitch Fiddle.  It seems many of you agree with me, but over the past few weeks I have seen pleas for help with this challenging program.

So grab a cuppa and your favourite pic and let us take on the challenge.

The first thing you need to decide is what you want to get from your design.  If you just want a chart that you can print off and mark the squares as you go, then you can easily do this with the free version. However, I know lots of you prefer to follow the chart along with written row instructions and unfortunately if this is what you want, then you will need to upgrade to the premium version.

As the premium version is paid I am unable to advise on this

The first thing I like to do is to save the picture I want to use, to a place that is easy to find so I'm not searching folders to find it later. I always save it to my desktop and then delete it later once I have finished with it.

Once you enter the site you will be met with the home screen.

You can now follow the chart create your masterpiece.

I hope this tutorial has given you the confidence to navigate your way around this program.  If you need any help with the free version, then please contact me and I will be happy to guide you.

Have fun
